What Is BOTOX Cosmetic?
BOTOX Cosmetic is a very popular procedure, and for good reason. It is safe and has been used for decades on millions of patients.
BOTOX Cosmetic is:
- Quick. It only takes a few minutes to get BOTOX Cosmetic injections – many people have it done on their lunch hour. There is no downtime needed, either, so when the treatment is over you can get right back to your regular activities (although you should avoid doing anything that is too strenuous).
- Painless. Patients report that it feels like a little pinch. There may be a bit of bruising afterwards, but this will fade within a couple of days.
- Effective. BOTOX Cosmetic is much more effective than at-home creams and serums and much less invasive than getting a surgical procedure such as a facelift. It works by preventing the muscles underneath the skin from contracting, which relaxes wrinkles. It is typically used to treat lines on the forehead and around the eyes and mouth. You’ll notice a difference in a few days, but it can take as long as 2 weeks to really see the results. These results can last for months.

Another thing you should know about BOTOX Cosmetic is that there is another option if you want the benefits of BOTOX Cosmetic but you have had a reaction to it in the past. Xeomin® performs in the same way as BOTOX Cosmetic, but it doesn’t have all the additional proteins that are in BOTOX Cosmetic, which reduces the risk of having a bad reaction.
