Reduce the wrinkle lines that develop across the forehead, and those that occur on the bridge of the nose and between the eyes.
The signs of aging are gradual, and often make their first appearance on your brow and forehead. Skin begins to lose elasticity, and your temples and brow areas may lose fat and begin to droop. Dr. Dawes can perform a brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, to correct sagging of the forehead skin and improve the brow’s shape and overall appearance. This surgery may also improve the appearance of your upper eyelids.
Is a Brow Lift right for me?
Brow lifting procedures have evolved from open techniques to minimally invasive short incision and endoscopic approaches. Typical incisions are in the hair-bearing scalp but occasionally they are made directly in the forehead or upper eyelids. Your particular brow lift technique will depend on your specific facial features and aesthetic preference. As with other cosmetic procedures, brow lift surgery is a personal decision. It should be done only to help you feel positive about your appearance rather than to fit a particular image or ideal.
A brow lift may be right for you if:
- You are bothered by creases or expression/frown lines in the brow and forehead region
- You have a low or sagging brow that is hooding the upper eyelid
Good candidates for brow lift surgery are individuals who:
- Are healthy, with no underlying medical conditions or illness which may impair healing
- Have healthy facial tissues and muscles
- Are non-smokers
How Brow Lift Surgery is Performed
During a brow lift procedure, Dr. Dawes makes an incision either at the hairline, behind the hairline or in the mid-forehead. He then removes excess skin, tightens loose skin or modifies drooping brows. If necessary, Dr. Dawes may remove part of the muscle that causes vertical frown lines between the brows. The procedure is often combined with other facial rejuvenation surgeries such as a facelift or blepharoplasty.
Recovery Expectations
Recovery time is about one to two weeks. Final results will be long lasting, but may take several months as swelling decreases and incision lines refine and fade. Diligent sun protection and a healthy lifestyle will help maintain and extend your rejuvenated appearance.
