Restore your pre-pregnancy figure and get back your body confidence
With the advances made in technology and anesthesia, it is now possible to perform two or even three operations in the same sitting on one patient, and discharge them home after adequate recovery from anesthesia, which is usually quite rapid. Combining these procedures means the patient only has to undergo anesthesia once, and go through the recovery period once.
Pregnancy can be extremely hard on a woman’s body. It can leave her with a loose, stretched abdomen, sagging breasts, and excess fat and skin that she just can’t get rid of. There are some parts of the body that diet and exercise simply can’t restore to pre-pregnancy condition. That’s why Dr. Dawes offers the Mommy Makeover. Comprised of various body contouring techniques, the Mommy Makeover is customized for each patient.
Customized Mommy Makeover Plan
Depending on your desired cosmetic outcome, your mommy makeover plan could include a combination of procedures. Dr. Dawes will customize your Mommy Makeover to meet your personal needs and desired goals. In addition to traditional body contouring procedures such a liposuction and tummy tuck, Dr. Dawes also offers advanced combination treatments for the breasts and abdomen.
A breast augmentation will help enhance the size and shape of your breasts that may have lost volume with pregnancy and breastfeeding. A Breast Lift can restore saggy breasts to create a more youthful position. A Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) will remove excess skin and fat an tighten separated abdominal muscles. Liposuction can remove areas of localized fat from the body (abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks, arms, chin and neck).
Is A Mommy Makeover Right for Me?
Many women who have finished having children are bothered by some of the physical changes in their body that can occur with childbirth and breastfeeding. This usually presents as excess deflated skin in the abdomen and a loss of fullness to the breasts. The mommy makeover is a great way to boost self-confidence as it restores and enhances a woman’s figure to a more youthful, pre-pregnancy appearance.
A mommy makeover may be right for you if:
- You have deflated breast size and shape following breastfeeding
- You have drooping nipples and stretched out areolas
- There is excess sagging abdominal skin and stretch marks
- You are finished having kids
- You are in good health and have a stable weight
Amongst the procedures that are most commonly done simultaneously are the following:
- Tummy tuck and breast reduction
- Tummy tuck and breast lift or augmentation
- Breast augmentation and liposuction
How a Mommy Makeover is Performed
Mommy makeover surgery is extremely popular because it addresses multiple concerns and can most often be completed in a single operation. Having just one surgery reduces the total time you will need to be placed under general anesthesia and shortens your recovery time. The recovery for abdominoplasty will take longer than a breast augmentation or a breast lift. Board-Certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Dawes will walk you through the mommy makeover options and discuss how the sequence of surgeries would be performed.
Common procedures include a combination of the following:
The surgical placement of breast implants can increase the fullness and projection of the breasts, improve symmetry, enlarge a naturally small breast, restore breast volume lost following pregnancy and/or breastfeeding, and enhance self-image and self-confidence. The results are immediately visible and over time the breasts will settle naturally.
A Mastopexy raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. Sometimes the areola becomes enlarged overtime and a breast lift will reduce this. A breast lift can rejuvenate your figure with a breast profile that is youthful and uplifted. Breast lift surgery does not significantly change the size of your breasts or round out the upper part of your breast.
If you want your breasts to look fuller, you may want to consider breast lift with augmentation surgery. A breast lift may be a good option if you are bothered by the feeling that your breasts sag, have lost shape and volume, your nipples or areolas point downward, you have stretched and enlarged areolas, or one breast is lower than the other. In combination with a breast augmentation you will have the lift and desired fullness.
A tummy tuck procedure will result in a flatter, firmer abdominal contour that is more proportionate with your body type and weight. In most cases a tummy tuck restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer. Previous abdominal surgery may limit the potential results of a tummy tuck. In women who have undergone cesarean section, the existing scars may often be incorporated into the new scar.
Slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposit, improving your body contours and proportion, and ultimately, enhancing your self-image. In some cases, liposuction is performed alone, in other cases it is used with plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift, breast lift, breast augmentation, or tummy tuck to complete the mommy makeover.
You can expect moderate discomfort of the breast, which should gradually improve over 3-4 days. Swelling of the breasts usually subsides after three weeks, but can persist longer. If you have implants, they may ‘ride high’ on the chest wall. This is normal. It may take several weeks for the implants to ‘drop’ into place as the skin and muscle stretch to accommodate your new breast implants. You can expect moderate discomfort and tightness in your abdominal area, which should gradually improve over about one week. Over this time, your ability to stand up straight will also improve. If your job keeps you sedentary, you may plan on returning to work in 10-14 days, with the understanding that you may still have discomfort with motion. You will need to avoid lifting anything heavier than 10 pounds for 6 weeks, and avoid any strenuous exercise and activities for 6 weeks.
It is advised that you postpone your mommy makeover until your body has fully recovered from childbirth and you have finished breastfeeding, as your breasts will return to their final shape and size. Future pregnancies may reverse some of the effects of your mommy makeover to some extent.
The timing is extremely important. You should wait until you’ve finished having children and your body has healed from childbirth.
Multiple procedures can usually be performed simultaneously, but there is a limit to what should be done at once. Dr. Dawes will assist you in choosing your procedures so that they are performed in a safe, logical sequence.
Depending on the location and extent of your stretch marks, tummy tuck may lesson their appearance or even remove them entirely.
The length of your recovery depends on the procedures Dr. Dawes performed and at the rate in which your body heals. Most of Dr. Dawes’ patients return to work 2-3 weeks following surgery.
As your body heals, you won’t be able to complete many of your normal tasks, including anything that involves bending, straining or lifting. As hard as it is, you will need to refrain from picking up small children until your body has properly healed.
3 weeks for moderately strenuous activity
As long as you maintain your weight with regular exercise and a healthy diet, you will enjoy your results for many years. If you become pregnant or your weight fluctuates, your results could be compromised.
The cost depends on the combination of procedures that Dr. Dawes performs. For more specific information about mommy makeover pricing, please contact our office at 403.571.3141 or visit us for a consultation.
