When stubborn fat just won’t budge CoolSculpting can take you further.
No Surgery, No Needles, Little to No Downtime.
CoolSculpting is the world’s #1 non-invasive fat-reduction procedure. It’s an innovative way to contour your body by freezing unwanted fat away with no surgery or little to no downtime.
CoolSculpting is an amazing technology that uses controlled cooling to freeze your fat cells. once treated fat cells are frozen, the body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, leaving a more sculpted you. This fat reduction treatment is the only FDA-cleared and Health Canada approved procedure to use controlled cooling to safely target and eliminate diet-and exercise-resistant fat. CoolSculpting results are proven, noticeable, and lasting, so you’ll look and feel great from every angle.
CoolSculpting visibly reduces fat layer thickness by up to 20 to 25% after a single treatment. Long-lasting results shown 9 years after treatment, even with fluctuations in body weight.
Is CoolSculpting right for Me?
Women and men can benefit from CoolSculpting if they’re concerned about stubborn areas of fat that prevent them from being completely confident in their bodies. The most common treatment areas include:
- Under chin “double chin”
- Chest/breast area (men)
- Stomach (upper/lower)
- Love handles
- Upper back/bra fat
- Lower back
- Under bottom/”banana roll” area
- Upper arms
- Outer thighs/”saddle bag” area
- Inner thighs
- Inner knees
CoolSculpting isn’t a weight-loss treatment. An ideal CoolSculpting patient is already at the weight they want to maintain, or within a few pounds of their target. Your skin should have good elasticity as well, because CoolSculpting doesn’t tighten skin. During your consultation, a physical exam helps determine if CoolSculpting is the appropriate treatment path to address your concerns.
Liposuction, while effective, requires downtime for your body to heal and may not be the best option for everyone – especially for those patients with only a mild to moderate amount of fat.
Our CoolSculpting Expertise
While there are several applicators designed to fit different areas and accommodate various shapes and sizes, not all patients are candidates for CoolSculpting. Some, for instance, may do better with liposuction, surgery or even a combination of two or even all three modalities. During your consultation, you will meet with one of our CoolSculpting Technicians who will help determine which treatment modalities are right for you.
Our CoolSculpting technicians are certified, having taken extended training directly with the manufacturer of the device at CoolSculpting University in San Francisco, California. With this training, continuing education and by having the active support of Dr. Dawes, they are competent in proper placement of the applicators and assessment for referral if a different or more appropriate treatment is necessary.
One of the things you should look for when choosing a CoolSculpting provider is if the practice offers the complete range of applicators. CoolSculpting applicators are designed for specific treatment areas, but many practices only have 1 or 2 of them. Here at Jeffrey C. Dawes Plastic and Dermatologic Surgery, we have all the latest applicators.
Laura has attended CoolSculpting Master Training in San Francisco, California.
A certification that few in the country have obtained.
Over the past decade, more than 7 million CoolSculpting procedures have been performed. With more than 100 clinical studies validating its effectiveness, it’s no surprise that CoolSculpting has won the New Beauty Award for four consecutive years!
One treatment with CoolSculpting reduces up to 20-25% of fat cells in the treated area. You may need more than one treatment to reach your desired results and get the most out of your CoolSculpting experience.
The applicator will be placed on the treatment area and there will be a slight sucking sensation as it adheres to your body, followed by that signature cooling effect. During the procedure you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations subside as the area becomes numb. Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity, and sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental or submandibular area treatment.
You’ll start to see changes as soon as 1-3 months post-treatment. Final results may take 6 months or more.
While you will see up to a 20-25% fat reduction in the treated area after a single treatment, it depends on the person and the area being treated. Dr. Dawes and/ or one of his certified CoolSculpting technicians will work with you to determine if additional treatments are necessary to reach your desired goal.
When possible, Dr. Dawes and/or one of his certified CoolSculpting technicians will tell you if they thing a second treatment in a given area will likely be necessary. Generally, you will start to see results after 4 weeks, with maximal results seen at 12 weeks. If adequate changes are not seen by around 8 weeks, a second treatment may be recommended.
CoolSculpting uses cryolipolysis, which is just a technical way to say fat-freezing. When fat cells freeze, they die and are then naturally eliminated through the body’s natural process. Don’t worry: This process happens so gradually, you won’t necessarily notice a difference in your day-to-day life.
Bruising, swelling and tenderness can occur in the treated area. This typically resolves within 1-2 weeks. May persist for up to 4 weeks.
Some patients may experience some discomfort for the first 10 or so minutes as the skin and fat is pulled into the applicator, but this will typically subside after about 10 minutes once the skin starts to cool.
Occasionally, patients may feel numbness in the area treated. While this may last days-months, it is most certainly only temporary.
Dr. Dawes will determine how many cycles you will require, as well as whether he thinks more than one treatment will be necessary for a given area. For an abdomen, for example, 4-6 cycles are typically required for a single treatment. 2-4 for the flanks and 1-2 for the inner arms, thighs and saddlebag areas.
Each CoolSculpting treatment is different, so it depends on which areas of the body and how many of them you plan on doing. Depending on the area, treatment can be done in as little as 35 minutes. if you opt to do multiple treatments in a session, expect to spend more time.
On the day of your appointment you will arrive, have photos taken and be escorted in the CoolSculpting treatment room where a robe and slippers are provided for your comfort. The appropriate-sized applicator is then applied over the previously marked area based on the amount of fat to be removed and the shape of your body as you are comfortably positioned on the treatment table. We will then invite you to relax with one of our fresh teas or imported specialty waters while your treatment takes place. You will have a call button with you, to call the technician should you have any questions or concern. you may choose to do one treatment at a time or several per day as your schedule permits.
Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity, and sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental or submandibular “double chin” area treatment. This typically resolves within 1-2 weeks. You may experience a temporary dulling of sensation that can last for several weeks.
The CoolSculpting treatment is not for everyone. you should not have it done if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. The CoolSculpting procedure is not a weight loss treatment. As with any medical procedure, ask your physician if CoolSculpting is right for you.
