About Dr. Dawes

Jeffrey C. Dawes, MD is a Board-Certified plastic surgeon practicing in Calgary, Alberta. Rigorous training and expertise supports his purpose in achieving excellent outcomes for his patients. Whether they seek skin cancer treatment (Mohs micrographic surgery) and reconstruction, skin rejuvenation or aesthetic surgery of the face, breast and body—his attention to detail is rivaled only by his commitment to patient care.

Dr. Dawes MD has extensive surgical training in areas ranging from aesthetic surgery to major facial trauma, hand injuries, breast reconstruction and microsurgery. In total, Dr. Dawes has acquired 17 years of post-secondary education prior to opening his own practice in 2010. He has two undergraduate degrees (B.Sc., B.Comm.) as well as a Masters degree in Business (MBA) from the University of Calgary. In 2004, he graduated with his MD degree at the same institution and was named valedictorian of his medical school class. Dr. Dawes was accepted into the highly-competitive aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery program at the University of Calgary, where he completed five years of intensive surgical training.

Certifications and Associations

Upon successful completion of his fellowship examination, Dr. Dawes became a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He then undertook a coveted one-year postgraduate training fellowship in Mohs micrographic (skin cancer) surgery, which he completed through an American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS)-accredited training program. Dr. Dawes is one of only two plastic surgeons in Canada trained in Mohs surgery, which along with post-cancer soft-tissue facial reconstruction, remains his primary academic interest.

Dr. Dawes has presented at numerous national meetings and is an author in several peer-reviewed publications. Also, as a Clinical Lecturer within the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Dawes regularly presents lectures to medical students on a variety of topics including wound healing, skin cancer and burn management.

Aside from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, Dr. Dawes is a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, the Alberta Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons and is eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Surgery, American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Surgery.

Robyn

Robyn Dawes, BSc

Medical Aesthetics Manager / Treasurer

Educated at Brigham Young University and the University of South Dakota, Robyn was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in the Health Sciences and an Associates of Arts degree. She was employed as a practicing Registered Dental Hygienist for 15 years during Dr. Dawes’ medical training and is his wife of 25 years.

She has attended to the financial management of Jeffrey C. Dawes Professional Corporation from its onset in 2010 to present. Robyn originally trained in Practice Management through Fortune Practice Management and continues her learning through professional conferences and seminars. In 2012 she began the Skincare and Medical Aesthetics portion of Jeffrey C Dawes Plastic & Dermatologic Surgery and its development is her primary area of interest. Robyn enjoys snowboarding/skiing, golfing and spending time with her 5 children.

Erina

Erina Gartner, RN

Medical Aesthetics Nurse

We are excited to finally make the announcement that Nurse Erina will be stepping into the role as a full time nurse injector for dermal fillers and neuromodulators. As a Registered Nurse, Erina has qualified in the required training and additionally undertaken a year long apprentice and mentoring process alongside Dr. Dawes and various national trainers for leading companies in the injectables industry. She brings with her to this role, a broader knowledge of aesthetics, having years of experience in medical skin care, cosmetic surgical care, and medical devices.

Erina sees some of our key clients within the injectable industry, including other physicians and vendors of medical aesthetic product and service providers. She is supported in her role by the highest level of medicine, including specialists in the national and international community.

As an employee of Dr. Dawes, Erina benefits from ongoing access to specialist aesthetic resources including conferences, hands on training, and support from the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the invitation only Aesthetic Society’s Team Affiliate Program. Dr. Dawes’ standards are high for safety and excellence and it comes as no small endeavor to prepare her so well for this role.

Unique to Erina, is an incredible ability to understand and respond to patient needs and concerns. Her strong interpersonal communication skills consistently translate into satisfied and happy patients.

Laura

Laura Pasco, RN

Registered Nurse

Laura Pasco is one of our medical aesthetic nurses, providing laser treatments, CoolSculpting, medical grade facials and chemical peels. Born and raised in British Columbia, she has focused her studies in the health and sciences field and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Douglas College in New Westminster, BC. Since graduating in 2014, Laura has performed in a variety of roles as Registered Nurse in the acute care hospital setting. Prior to joining our practice, she worked at the South Health Campus on a medical surgical unit. Her valuable education and experience adds to the care and safety of our patients. She is compassionate, friendly and respectful towards patients and staff. Laura attended CoolSculpting University Master’s program and collaborated with other experts from North America, while learning the newest advanced techniques on this medical device. With the completion of this program, she is proud to be a certified CoolSculpting Master.

Laura also manages the skin care needs of our patients. She is an Advanced Skin Care Therapist, certified by the Esthetics Institute. She performs medical grade facials and chemical peels, as well as plans long term treatment solutions for our patients.

Laura has called Calgary home since 2015 now. Outside of work she enjoys an active and healthy lifestyle. Laura loves arts and crafts, and often has a project on the go. She attributes her steady hand and attention to detail to her lifelong passion for crafting.

Tana

Tana Bagshaw

Medical Office Administrator

Tana Bagshaw plays a valuable role in supporting patients, staff and Dr. Dawes in her part-time role. She is an organized individual, handling bookings for Dr. Dawes’ multiple clinic schedules, keeping treatment rooms running smoothly during office clinics, as well as countless other administrative duties. Care and compassion come naturally to Tana and her personality lends well to assisting patients through the discomforts and anxieties of having surgery. She is knowledgeable in all our surgical and medical aesthetic procedures, skin care, make up and aesthetic product lines.

Tana is a mother to 2 adult children, and another 2 adolescent children. Beyond anything else in life, she adores loving and serving her family.

Dustin Sherriff-Clayton

Medical Office Administrator

Dustin joined our team this year as our main Medical Office Administrator. Originally from Ontario, this is his 5th year residing in Calgary. It will likely be Dustin to initially greet you on the phone or as you enter the office. His ability to effectively handle patient scheduling, inquiries, or concerns with his naturally optimistic attitude has made him a great fit to the Jeffrey C Dawes Team. We have benefitted greatly from his multiple strengths in organization, follow-through and attention to detail.

Uniquely, Dustin has a long history of competitive figure skating, competing last January at The Canadian Nationals Championships for the 9th time.

Elaine

Elaine Baker

Peri-Operative Nurse

Elaine Baker is our Peri-Operative Nurse. You will likely see her before and after your surgery, as she answers your questions and takes care of you through every step of the way.

After graduating as a Registered Nurse in 2006 from Lethbridge College, Elaine worked in postpartum and day surgery for 15 years before joining our team. She immesnly passionate about her job and her patients.

Elaine has four kids. She loves the outdoors, hiking, skiing, running, boating, and playing sports. Music makes her happy and Disneyland and Hawaii are her favourite places. She loves candy (but not chocolate), making people laugh, and getting lost in a good book.

Amanda brings a wealth of experience and a patient-focused approach to our medical practice, making her an integral part of our team. With over a decade of experience in medical office administration, Amanda ensures that our office runs smoothly and efficiently.

It will likely be Amanda to initially greet you on the phone or as you enter the office. Her dedication to patient care and operational excellence is complemented by her warm and contagiously kind demeanor, ensuring that every patient who steps into our office feels welcomed and comfortable.
