About Dr. Dawes
Jeffrey C. Dawes, MD is a Board-Certified plastic surgeon practicing in Calgary, Alberta. Rigorous training and expertise supports his purpose in achieving excellent outcomes for his patients. Whether they seek skin cancer treatment (Mohs micrographic surgery) and reconstruction, skin rejuvenation or aesthetic surgery of the face, breast and body—his attention to detail is rivaled only by his commitment to patient care.
Dr. Dawes MD has extensive surgical training in areas ranging from aesthetic surgery to major facial trauma, hand injuries, breast reconstruction and microsurgery. In total, Dr. Dawes has acquired 17 years of post-secondary education prior to opening his own practice in 2010. He has two undergraduate degrees (B.Sc., B.Comm.) as well as a Masters degree in Business (MBA) from the University of Calgary. In 2004, he graduated with his MD degree at the same institution and was named valedictorian of his medical school class. Dr. Dawes was accepted into the highly-competitive aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery program at the University of Calgary, where he completed five years of intensive surgical training.
Certifications and Associations
Upon successful completion of his fellowship examination, Dr. Dawes became a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He then undertook a coveted one-year postgraduate training fellowship in Mohs micrographic (skin cancer) surgery, which he completed through an American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS)-accredited training program. Dr. Dawes is one of only two plastic surgeons in Canada trained in Mohs surgery, which along with post-cancer soft-tissue facial reconstruction, remains his primary academic interest.
Dr. Dawes has presented at numerous national meetings and is an author in several peer-reviewed publications. Also, as a Clinical Lecturer within the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Dawes regularly presents lectures to medical students on a variety of topics including wound healing, skin cancer and burn management.
Aside from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, Dr. Dawes is a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, the Alberta Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons and is eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Surgery, American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Surgery.

Robyn Dawes, BSc
Medical Aesthetics Manager / Treasurer
Educated at Brigham Young University and the University of South Dakota, Robyn was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in the Health Sciences and an Associates of Arts degree. She was employed as a practicing Registered Dental Hygienist for 15 years during Dr. Dawes’ medical training and is his wife of 25 years.
She has attended to the financial management of Jeffrey C. Dawes Professional Corporation from its onset in 2010 to present. Robyn originally trained in Practice Management through Fortune Practice Management and continues her learning through professional conferences and seminars. In 2012 she began the Skincare and Medical Aesthetics portion of Jeffrey C Dawes Plastic & Dermatologic Surgery and its development is her primary area of interest. Robyn enjoys snowboarding/skiing, golfing and spending time with her 5 children.
Ashley Lefurgey, RN
Ashley holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from St. Francis Xavier University and was awarded a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada Scholarship for her research. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Nursing Degree from the University of Calgary and entered clinical practice as a Registered Nurse in 2010. Her focus has been in surgical and cosmetic procedures, assisting Dr. Dawes in the operating room during Mohs Micrographic Surgery for 6 years.
Since 2014 Ashley has been providing cosmetic injectable treatments to patients at our office and has had extensive training to perfect her injection skills. Ashley has expanded her education and skills to become a Certified Laser Technician and now dedicates her entire practice to providing cosmetic treatments. Patient safety is of paramount importance in our clinic and Ashley has completed the nationally recognized Laser Safety Officer Training. She has exceptional attention to detail and a very gentle touch.
Erina Gartner, RN
Erina graduated from Mount Royal University with her Bachelor of Nursing degree in 2012. After graduation, she began working as a Labour and Delivery Nurse, and perfected her medical and surgical skills, while caring for patients in their most vulnerable moments. Her impeccable attention to detail along with ability to create a calm and nurturing environment is an asset to providing our clients with outstanding service. She will ensure that you feel supported and informed throughout your surgical experience for Mohs Surgery and Cosmetic procedures.
Erina is a wife and busy mother to 3 wonderful children. Together, she and her family enjoy lake days in the Summer and trips to the mountains.
Christy Dwyer, RN
Medical Aesthetics Nurse
Christy Dwyer is a Registered Nurse with a BSCN and Distinction of Honors from the University of Alberta in 2002. She worked in various intensive care units throughout Calgary, holding a strong passion for advanced cardiac life support and cardiovascular health. In 2012, she ventured to a clinical business operations role with Alberta Health Services, where she worked in program development and establishment of provincial policy.
Christy joined our team as a Registered Nurse in 2018. She supports Dr. Dawes in his Mohs micrographic surgery and cosmetic surgery practice as she oversees patients through the pre and post-surgical experience. Christy also supports patients in their cosmetic experience as she is fully certified as a Coolsculpting Specialist, completed at CoolSculpting University. Christy is also an Advanced Skin Care Therapist and Certified Laser Technician, certified by the Esthetics Institute.
This busy mom of two children is a huge believer in an active lifestyle, health and travel. She is an active volunteer in the community she loves, and believes strongly in giving back to children and youth in sports. In her free time, you will find her in the hiking or biking in the mountains. You will love Christy’s positive energy, enthusiasm and exceptional customer service during your experience.
Laura Pasco, RN
Laura Pasco is one of our medical aesthetic nurses, providing laser treatments, CoolSculpting, medical grade facials and chemical peels. Born and raised in British Columbia, she has focused her studies in the health and sciences field and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Douglas College in New Westminster, BC. Since graduating in 2014, Laura has performed in a variety of roles as Registered Nurse in the acute care hospital setting. Prior to joining our practice, she worked at the South Health Campus on a medical surgical unit. Her valuable education and experience adds to the care and safety of our patients. She is compassionate, friendly and respectful towards patients and staff. Laura attended CoolSculpting University Master’s program and collaborated with other experts from North America, while learning the newest advanced techniques on this medical device. With the completion of this program, she is proud to be a certified CoolSculpting Master.
Laura also manages the skin care needs of our patients. She is an Advanced Skin Care Therapist, certified by the Esthetics Institute. She performs medical grade facials and chemical peels, as well as plans long term treatment solutions for our patients.
Laura has called Calgary home since 2015 now. Outside of work she enjoys an active and healthy lifestyle. Laura loves arts and crafts, and often has a project on the go. She attributes her steady hand and attention to detail to her lifelong passion for crafting.
A true local to the area, Val was born, raised and educated in Calgary. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Human Science and a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology. Her previous work and experience has been in histopathology labs, including electron microscopy and neuropathology. Val’s attention to fine detailed work has also been demonstrated assisting in follicular hair transplant surgery for several years.
Currently her expertise and passion lies in the Mohs Surgery histology lab for skin cancer. Val has a strong dedication to patient care with over 20 years of experience in the Mohs Lab. In 2012, she set up the surgical lab at the Calgary Mohs Surgery Center with Dr. Dawes and currently ensures the daily production of high-quality slide preparations and efficacy in the workflow of this specialized high volume facility.
She is an active outdoor enthusiast who loves animals and spending time with family in the mountains year round.
Kayley graduated from Mount Royal University with a Diploma in Broadcasting Communications and was awarded the Global Television Network for Canadian Work Experience with The Sports Network (TSN). She landed her first role in media as a community reporter and television host for Shaw TV and went on to work for the Western Hockey League as a Video Coordinator and multi-media lead for web production. Two years later she moved to Toronto for an opportunity with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment as an Editor and Producer for Leafs TV as well as the Toronto Raptors. Projects included event coverage for the 2015 NBA Canada Series and 2016 NBA All Star weekend. After two years in Toronto, she returned home to Calgary to work once again with the Western Hockey League in Corporate Sponsorship and Marketing.
Her experience along with her passion for working with people and media has brought her to Jeffrey C. Dawes Plastic & Dermatologic Surgery where she oversees social platforms, video production, web development and brand marketing. Kayley loves spending time with her husband and two children. She adores the mountain lifestyle and taking family trips to Jasper, Alberta each summer.
Medical Office Administrator
Kyle fulfills the role of Medical Office Administrator. His compassionate personality and empathetic listening skills work to ensure that patient concerns are heard loud and clear. Kyle has a passion for science and the medical field. A recent graduate from MacEwan University, Kyle earned a Bachelor of Science with a major in molecular biology and plans on attending medical school in the future.
Kyle’s greatest love is the natural world. He spends most of his free time biking in Fish Creek Park or in the mountains doing nature photography.
Medical Office Administrator
Tana Bagshaw plays a valuable role in supporting patients, staff and Dr. Dawes in her part-time role. She is an organized individual, handling bookings for Dr. Dawes’ multiple clinic schedules, keeping treatment rooms running smoothly during office clinics, as well as countless other administrative duties. Care and compassion come naturally to Tana and her personality lends well to assisting patients through the discomforts and anxieties of having surgery. She is knowledgeable in all our surgical and medical aesthetics procedures, skin care, make up and aesthetic products lines.
Tana is a mother to 2 adult children, and another 2 adolescent children. Beyond anything else in life, she adores loving and serving her family.
Medical Office Administrator
Dustin joined our team this year as our main Medical Office Administrator. Originally from Ontario, this is his 5th year residing in Calgary. It will likely be Dustin to initially greet you on the phone or as you enter the office. His ability to effectively handle patient scheduling, inquiries, or concerns with his naturally optimistic attitude has made him a great fit to the Jeffrey C Dawes Team. We have benefitted greatly from his multiple strengths in organization, follow-through and attention to detail.
Uniquely, Dustin has a long history of competitive figure skating, competing last January at The Canadian Nationals Championships for the 9th time.
