Should You Consider a Mini-Tummy Tuck?

Summer is the time to show off your slim and toned tummy – unfortunately, the tummy is one of those areas that can be tough to tone. A bit of a pooch can remain, even after months of trying different diets and workout plans. Maybe you’re not ready for a tummy tuck yet, but you wish you could get rid of some of that excess fat. A mini-tummy tuck may be the answer!

What is a mini-tummy tuck?

A mini-tummy tuck is for patients who have excess skin and fat that is located in the lower abdomen region. It can help patients with a minimal amount of fat, those who have lost a lot of weight but have sagging skin remaining, and women with C-section scars. If you have too much excess skin and fat that is above the belly button, you may need a full tummy tuck.

What are the advantages of a mini-tummy tuck?

Mini-tummy tucks leave a shorter scar than a full-tummy tuck. Because it is toning the area below your belly button, your belly button won’t have to be repositioned. In the end, a mini-tummy tuck will also cost less. The procedure also takes less time than a full-tummy tuck.

Can everyone get a mini-tummy tuck?

Your doctor will have to determine if a mini-tummy tuck is sufficient. You should be in good shape physically and at a healthy, stable weight for any kind of tummy tuck. You should also be dedicated to a healthy lifestyle, with a good exercise regimen and a healthy diet.

Even though a mini-tummy tuck is less invasive than a full-tummy tuck, there is still some recovery time involved. You should expect to take at least a week off of work to heal, and you will be sore and swollen for a few days after the procedure.
