Hopefully, you had a nice, relaxing summer, and you are now ready to take on what can be such a busy time of the year, the fall and winter. However, if you got a little too much sun over the past few months, you may have noticed that your skin is looking a bit lifeless and dull. Read on for some tips to rejuvenate and refresh your skin!
- Always wear sunblock. Even if you haven’t been wearing it all summer, there is no reason why you can’t start now! You should apply sunblock every day, even if your total time spent outside only includes the drive to and from work. The sun is dangerous to skin, even in small amounts.
- Moisturize! Even if you don’t really think of your skin as being dry, moisturizing always has benefits. Try a moisturizer that is oil-free to avoid blocking your pores, and apply right after taking a shower to really trap in moisture.
- Exfoliate. Exfoliation removes the surface layer of the skin, and so the best time to exfoliate is right before bed. This gives your body a chance to make new skin cells while you sleep. Plus, if you exfoliate before going out in the morning, your skin will be especially vulnerable to the sun.
- Take care of yourself. You’ve heard it a million times, but that’s because it does make a difference. Eat your fruits and veggies, avoid eating too much sugar (which can lead to acne breakouts), watch your fat intake (which can make skin look oily) and your alcohol intake, and stop smoking! Taking a daily multivitamin can also help to keep skin looking healthy, by providing antioxidants that protect it from any pollutants in the environment. Exercising every day can also help skin, by increasing your circulation.
