Brazilian butt lifts
A Brazilian butt lift gives the patient more shapely and defined buttocks without using implants. In the procedure, fat is taken from one area of the patient’s body, such as the hips, back, abdomen, or thighs, and strategically placed into the buttocks. This gives you curves where you want them, and a curvy, rounder backside. A Brazilian butt lift differs from a “traditional” butt lift, which uses silicone implants to add volume.
What you need to know about the procedure
Because fat is removed from other areas of the body, if you have very little fat, this might not be the procedure for you. You and your doctor will go over your medical history and discuss what your plastic surgery goals are to decide if you are a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift.
A Brazilian butt lift is an outpatient procedure and typically takes 2 to 3 hours. Because the fat is taken from your own body, there is very little chance of the complications that sometimes come with using implants. After the procedure you will feel bruised and swollen. You will need to avoid sitting (as much as possible, of course) for about 3 weeks and should sleep on your stomach, and you will need to wear a compression garment for about 2 weeks. You should plan on missing about 2 weeks of work.
You will start to see the results of the procedure when the swelling goes down. The results are permanent, although some fat might be reabsorbed into your body. To maintain these results, you should stay at a steady weight, because weight gain or loss can affect the shape of your buttocks.
