What Is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Beautiful,Slim,Woman,Body.,Closeup,Of,Healthy,Girl,With,Fit Brazilian butt lifts are becoming more popular every day for both men and women. This surgery was first performed in 1960 and has drastically changed the way individuals go about adding shape and volume to their buttocks. Have you wondered, “What is a BBL?” Would this procedure be right for you? Here are some of the things you should know about this procedure if you are considering having a Brazilian butt lift performed.

What Is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

A Brazilian butt lift surgery gives the patient more shapely and defined buttocks without using implants. In the procedure, fat is taken from one area of the patient’s body, such as the hips, back, abdomen, or thighs, and strategically placed into the buttocks. This gives you curves where you want them and a curvy, rounder backside. A Brazilian butt lift differs from implants, which are commonly used in more traditional buttock augmentation procedures, in several ways.

What Is the Difference Between Brazilian Butt Lift and Buttocks Implants?

The main difference between a Brazilian butt lift and buttocks implants is the method of enhancement With a BBL surgery, the implant into the buttocks is made by using fat from other areas of the body. Alternatively, buttocks implant surgery involves the use of implants typically made of silicone.

With Brazilian butt lift surgery, the results that you receive are considered to be semi-permanent. You can do various things to maintain the results, which, in some cases, can last for more than a decade. This is primarily due to the fact that fat cells change over time, which can result in changes in their size. With buttocks implants, the results are considered to be permanent.

The results that you receive from BBL surgery tend to look more natural since they utilize your body’s own fat. With implants, your buttocks will gain a specific shape based on the shape of the silicone pouch.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a BBL?

There are specific criteria that a patient interested in a Brazilian butt lift should meet. Due to the fact that this procedure utilizes the patient’s own fat, it is important that patients have excess fat available. Patients who are too thin may not be good candidates for this procedure due to the fact that there may not be enough fat to transfer to their buttocks.

It is also important to note that patients should generally have a BMI of 32 or below, not smoke, and be in good overall health. Patients who have serious illnesses, such as AIDs or cancer, and conditions that prevent them from healing properly are not typically good candidates for this procedure.

What You Need To Know About the Procedure

You and your doctor will go over your medical history and discuss what your plastic surgery goals are to decide if you are a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift.

A Brazilian butt lift is an outpatient procedure and typically takes 2 to 3 hours. Because the fat is taken from your own body, there is very little chance of the complications that sometimes come with using implants.

What You Should Know About the Recovery Process

After the procedure, you will feel bruised and swollen. You will need to avoid sitting (as much as possible, of course) for about three weeks and should sleep on your stomach, and you will need to wear a compression garment for about two weeks. You should plan to take off work for approximately two weeks.

You will start to see the results of the procedure when the swelling goes down. The results are permanent, although some fat might be reabsorbed into your body. To maintain these results, you should stay at a steady weight because weight gain or loss can affect the shape of your buttocks.

You will need to wait at least 2 weeks after surgery before you can operate a vehicle. Since you are required to remain bedridden for at least three weeks after surgery, you will need to use a BBL pillow while driving to ensure your full body weight is not resting on your buttocks after surgery.

Each week, you will experience the swelling and pain diminish. By week three, you should be more comfortable and able to take multiple short walks. This activity can help promote blood flow to the treated area, improving your healing process. You will not be able to return to normal exercise until at least eight weeks after surgery. However, our team will be able to provide you with more specific details regarding your recovery process at a follow-up appointment.

Do Patients Require Multiple Butt Lift Surgeries?

After surgery, some of the fat transferred to your buttocks may reabsorb into the body. Patients will usually see around 60% of the fat remaining. However, some patients may desire more prominent buttocks and consider repeated surgery. Although a second BBL is not required, it can help improve contour, address any irregularities or asymmetry, and further increase the size of the buttocks. Whether you have a second Brazilian butt lift is purely based on your preference and how you feel about the results.
