Hopefully, this Valentine’s Day has inspired even more kisses than usual in your life – but this can come with a downside as well. Has that extra emphasis on your lips made you think that maybe they are lacking in some way? Read on for some lip tips!
TLC for Your Lips
There are some simple things you can do at home to make your lips look and feel fantastic:
- Drink plenty of water. This item shows up on just about every health and beauty list, and there’s a reason for this: water helps to keep you healthy on the inside and beautiful on the outside. Staying hydrated keeps lips from drying out and helps to plump them up.
- Use sunscreen. When you slather on the sunscreen to go outside, don’t forget the lips! Protect them from sun damage with sunscreen or with lip balm that has an SPF of at least 15.
- Use the right products. Avoid lip products with ingredients such as camphor, which can dry out lips. Use aloe vera gel or products with cocoa butter, shea butter, or coconut oil. You can try a combination of aloe vera gel (about a tablespoon) and honey – leave this on the lips for about 15 minutes, then wash off for pink and soft lips.
- Exfoliate. Rub your lips gently with a washcloth or a toothbrush to remove dead skin and improve blood circulation.
Of course, tips you can do at home can only do so much! If, despite everything you’ve tried, you are unhappy with thin lips, those lines around the mouth, or lips that are unbalanced, a dermal filler can help. Hyaluronic acid, a common ingredient in fillers, can add volume to lips and can make the skin around the lips look younger. Fillers are a nonsurgical, long-lasting way to get the lips you want!
